How Did America Get So Sick?
For decades, we’ve been told that America has the best healthcare system in the world. But if that’s true, why are Americans sicker than ever? Chronic disease rates are skyrocketing, life expectancy is dropping, and mental health struggles are at an all-time high. Nurse Nicole and Nurse Michele sit down with Nurse Jodi to break down the hard truths about our nation’s failing healthcare system and uncover what led us to this crisis in this special two-part show.
The Illusion of Healthcare Excellence
We’re often told that American healthcare is the gold standard. But the reality is far from it. While we spend more on healthcare than any other nation, our outcomes tell a different story. We rank last among developed countries in life expectancy, and chronic illnesses are consuming our nation. If our system was truly working, wouldn’t we be healthier?

Shocking Health Statistics
The numbers don’t lie. According to the Make America Healthy Again Executive Order, six in ten Americans have at least one chronic disease, and four in ten suffer from two or more. The U.S. has the highest cancer rate in the world, with an 88% increase since 1990. Obesity, autism, and autoimmune diseases continue to climb at alarming rates.
Nurse Nicole, who has been deeply involved in healthcare policy, notes, “These statistics are no accident. We’ve been sold a system that treats symptoms instead of preventing illness. It’s time we ask why.”
When we compare ourselves to other developed nations, the contrast is staggering. Countries with fewer resources and lower healthcare spending have healthier populations. So, what’s driving America’s health crisis?
The Medical System’s Failure
Rather than focusing on prevention, our healthcare system thrives on over-medication and disease management. ADHD prescriptions have soared, antidepressant use is at record levels, and chronic disease medications are a lifelong sentence for millions. Nurse Michele points out, “We have a system designed to create lifelong customers, not healthy individuals.” The financial incentives are clear—sick people mean profit for Big Pharma, while preventative care is neglected.
What’s Causing the Crisis?
So why are Americans so sick? The answer isn’t simple, but it’s clear.
Environmental toxins are in our food, water, and air.
Processed food and sugar dominate the American diet.
Sedentary lifestyles have become the norm.
Big Pharma and Big Food have manipulated policies to prioritize profit over health.
Technology addiction is fueling a mental health crisis.
Meanwhile, other countries with fewer toxins, whole-food diets, and more active lifestyles are seeing better health outcomes.
Economic & National Security Impact
Our declining health isn’t just a personal issue—it’s a national security crisis. 77% of young adults are unfit for military service due to health issues. 90% of healthcare spending goes toward managing chronic and mental health conditions. This is unsustainable.
Closing Thoughts: Can We Fix It?
The question now is: Can the Make America Healthy Again movement be the solution? Or is this just another government policy that won’t go far enough?
Join us for Part 2, where we break down the policies of the Executive Order and discuss real solutions for reclaiming our health.
