Welcome to another inspiring episode of Nurses Out Loud Talk Radio! I’m your host, Nurse Michele, and today we’re diving into a powerful concept: the idea that by changing your mindset, you can change your entire life. Whether you’re navigating health challenges, personal relationships, or your professional journey, shifting the way you think about yourself and your potential is the first step toward lasting transformation.
The Power of Positive Self-Talk
We often underestimate the power of words. But let me tell you this: the words you speak to yourself can either heal or harm you. If you’re constantly putting yourself down or doubting your worth, you’re poisoning your own mind. The truth is, you are uniquely made with incredible value. Every time you say something negative about yourself, you’re reinforcing a belief that doesn’t serve you or your future goals.
It’s time to change the narrative. Speak kindly to yourself. Encourage yourself the way you would a dear friend. When you begin to affirm your worth, talents, and abilities, you align your mindset with your true potential. You are worthy of love, success, and joy, and it all begins with how you talk to yourself.
Delighting in the Lord and Defining the Desires of Your Heart
As we explore how to intentionally change our mindset, let’s turn to Psalm 37:4, which reminds us that “if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart.” This verse is a powerful reminder that God wants to bless us with the deepest desires of our hearts—but in order for that to happen, we need to be clear about what those desires actually are.
What do you want in life? Take a moment to reflect on your desires for your body, your health, your mental wellness, your fitness, your relationships, and your career. Get specific. What would it look like for you to live in complete alignment, recognizing who you really are, a child of the Highest? Who delights in fulfilling those desires your heart desires? If you haven’t thought deeply about these areas, now is the time to start. Write it down. Be clear. And take deliberate steps toward those goals. Remember, if you do not receive it, because you ask not. Make those desires known to your heavenly father, who loves you!
The more intentional you are in identifying what you truly want, the more likely you are to see those desires fulfilled. Trust me, God doesn’t just bless vague, undefined wishes. He blesses hearts that are clear, focused, and aligned with His will. Speak the words, ‘may the desires of my heart be in alignment with your divine will!’
Your Unique Value
You are unlike anyone else on this Earth. From your fingerprints to your DNA, you are uniquely designed. This is a reminder for those times when you may feel insignificant or overwhelmed. When you doubt your value, look at your fingerprint. It’s an irrefutable sign that you were intentionally created with a specific purpose in mind. You are valuable to the Creator and have the power to bring unique insight to any situation or problem. Whether in your family, community, or workplace, your perspective matters.
Evaluating Relationships: Are They Helping You Thrive?
Another area of life that directly impacts your mindset is your relationships. Take a moment to assess the people you interact with regularly. Do they add value to your life? Are they supporting your growth and your mental health? Sometimes, we need to remove ourselves from toxic environments or relationships that undermine our well-being.
One way to evaluate your relationships is by asking yourself: on a scale of 0 to 10, where would you rate the relationship? Then, have an open conversation with the other person. Ask them to share the top three things they believe could improve the relationship. Commit to working on those areas for six months, and after that time, reassess. If both parties are committed to the growth of the relationship, then it’s worth continuing. If not, it may be time to make some tough decisions about the people you allow in your life.
